About This Program

Uganda faces significant environmental challenges, including deforestation, pollution, and poor sanitation. In response, +256 Youth Platform has initiated various programs to promote environmental conservation and hygiene. The organization engages youth in tree planting campaigns, waste management activities, and the construction of Tippy Taps for improved sanitation. A key innovation under this program has been the production of eco-friendly bricks from plastic waste, reducing plastic pollution while providing sustainable building materials.

The program’s objective is to inspire young people to take active roles in environmental conservation and sanitation. Among its notable successes, the program has planted thousands of trees, conducted numerous community clean-up exercises, and improved sanitation in local schools and communities by constructing handwashing facilities. Additionally, through partnerships with Iganga District Local Government and other organizations, the program has raised awareness about climate change and environmental sustainability.
